About Us

Svadesabhimani ("The Patriot") was a newspaper founded in 1905 by Vakkom Muhammed Abdul Khader Moulavi. The paper was published every Wednesday and Saturday.
Primary objective of the paper was to fight for the democratic rights of the people of Travancore. On 26 September 1910, the printing press was sealed and confiscated by the Travancore Police. Ramakrishna Pillai, the editor, was arrested and banished from Travancore to Thirunelveli in Madras Province of British Raj.
In 1957, the Government of Kerala returned the press to Vakkom Moulavi's son Vakkom Abdul Kadar and family.
